The death sentences for two Sunni prisoners suffering from psychological illnesses has been revoked.
According to reports, Seddigh Mohammadi and Syed Hadi Hosseini, who were awaiting execution at Ghezel Hesar prison in Karaj, were informed today that their execution would not be carried out.
Lawyers for the two men informed them that the Supreme court had revoked their death sentences due to the severe psychological illnesses suffered by the two prisoners.
The two men, along with four other Sunni prisoners, were due to be executed in September 2013. Their execution was postponed for a month following widespread international attention about their case.
