The recent chemical weapon attacks in Damascus, Syria, has had a devastating impact, with a huge loss of life. Medecins Sans Fort said they had treated 3,600 patients suffering from neuro-toxic symptoms on Wednesday 21st August, 2013. At least 1400 patients died, with women and children among the dead.
The chemical that was used is suspected to be Sarin, a nerve agent with symptoms that include frothing at the mouth and asphyxiation. It can cause death within ten minutes if untreated.
HumanAid is stockpiling antidotes, gas masks, and biochemical suits to be fully prepared in case of further attacks.
It is absolutely essential that medical supplies are stockpiled and ready to be used in the case of a chemical emergency. This equipment can literally save hundreds of lives. Every penny you donate will make a difference.
