AssalaamuAlaykum brothers and sisters,
We urgently require your help. We are trying to raise awareness for our innocent Sunni brothers facing execution in Iran, especially for four brothers who are due to be executed this Saturday, the 21st of September, 2013.
We have just ONE DAY left to help our brothers. We need to take urgent action to help save their lives.
Please raise awareness for these brothers. Please use the new hash-tag on twitter: #SOS_Iran (It stands for: Save Our Sunnis, Iran)
In addition, we urgently request that you contact all the mosques and Islamic centers in your area, and ask them to raise awareness for the brothers. Please do the following:
- Request that they mention the brothers' case in Friday's Khutbah (sermon)
- Request that they do du'aa qunoot for the brothers in their prayers
- Request that they tell the congregation to sign the petitions
- Then, please send them the following email:
AssalaamuAlaykum,
Dear respected Shaykh,
I am writing to you to highlight the urgent case of 26 of our Sunni brothers in Iran, who are facing execution due to openly propagating their Sunni beliefs. Of particular urgency is the case of four of our brothers who are due to be executed this Saturday, the 21st of September, 2013.
We humbly request that you do everything in your power to raise awareness for our brothers. There is a petition to stop the execution of the brothers on this website: www.supportmybrothers.weebly.com. We ask that you perform the du’aa Qunoot in your prayers, and we ask that you make mention of our brothers in the Khutbah for Jummuah on Friday. We respectfully ask that you publish your efforts via social media, so that the news can reach a larger audience. We ask you to use the hash-tag on twitter : #SOS_Iran
The Iranian regime is quick to falsely accuse any ethnic or religious minority group, including these 26 prisoners, as being separatists and terrorists. Those facing execution are not from any armed group, nor are they separatists; rather they are merely active Sunnis who openly expressed their Islamic views within their own community. They verbally defended Sunni Islam from the insults and attacks that are prevalent in the Iranian media, and it was due to this that they were charged with ‘Moharabeh’ (enmity against the state/religion), a crime that carries the death penalty in Iran.
The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran (ICHRI) reported that some prisoners, like Kaveh Vaisi and Pourya Mohammadi, were forced to make televised false confessions after the safety of their families was threatened. They also reported that many of the prisoners were severely tortured upon arrest. In November 2012, ten Sunni prisoners faced trial, and, in a court case that lasted only ten minutes, were all sentenced to death. Reports from the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) and testimonies from the prisoners expose the shocking level of mistreatment suffered by these prisoners. In their court appearance they were blindfolded, handcuffed and shackled at the ankles. They were given electric shocks by Iranian Intelligence officials, and the attorney that was assigned to defend them was also threatened to remain silent. Six of the ten prisoners were executed in December 2012. Four prisoners now face execution on Saturday.
Please mention these four prisoners in your khutbah. Please tell every Muslim to make du'aa for them by name. We want every Muslim to know these brothers' names, and to make du'aa specifically for them! In sha Allah. Their names are:
-Jamshed Dehghani
-Jahangir Dehghani
-Hamed Ahmadi
-Kamal Malaie
